Controlling Cholesterol
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Bantam Books (February, 1989)
Average review score:

Great book on CholesterolThis is an excellent book on the subject of how to control cholesterol. The book is clearly written and it thoroughly explains the mechanism of cholesterol metabolism to the layman.
The various case studies are great too. The only criticism I have for the book is that it is not up to date in the latest treatments for high cholesterol.

The Cooper and His Trade
Published in Paperback by Linden Publishing (April, 1990)
Average review score:

Kilby Keeps the Trade of Coopering AliveMr. Kilby has written an important book on coopering that will have a lasting effect on keeping the traditional trade of coopering alive. This book details the history of coopering from its origins to it's 20th century state. Although it primarily focuses on the English coopering tradition, other sections of the book are very useful to anyone wishing to learn about coopering. The list of tools and there uses is a key section of this text. The tables of barrel dimensions and volumns is another key section of this book. The sizes given are historical sizes that museums would find very useful. Kilby also explains the process of how to build a barrel. Although he attempts to do this in detail with photographs and drawings, the new cooper would not be able to use this section as a "how to section". More detail is needed with regards to the jointing of barrel staves, a critical part of the barrel building process. As a practicioner of 19th century coopering, teacher and historian, I give Kilby's book top marks.

Cooper on Handguns
Published in Paperback by Longman Trade/Caroline House (January, 1974)
Average review score:

Fantastic source if information on defensive handgunning!Published in 1974 by Peterson Publications, 256 pages, paperback sold on newstands. Chapter were: Calibers, Cartridges & Power; Actions, Stocks & Finishes; Accuracy, Sights & Sighting; Gunhandling, Care & Maintenance; Holsters; Training, Practice & Target Shooting; Practical Pistol Competition; Color Changes; Hunting; Revolvers; Autos; Derringers; Black Powder; Manufacturers/Guns, Variants; Service Autos; Epilogue; Handgun Catalog; Directory. Updated in 1979 as Jeff Cooper on Handguns but with only 96 pages. Even though published over 20 years ago, all of the information in this work is still very applicable. His preferred handgun is a lightly modified the Colt 1911A1, .45ACP. Col. Cooper's other handgun titles were; Fighting Handguns 1958; Handguns Afield 1961; The Complete Book of Modern Handgunning 1961 and The Complete Book of Shooting 1965 (pages 239-368). All of these titles are required reading for all serious pistoleers! Other early Cooper works include; Sports Cars Annual 1957, Custom Rifles 1957 and Guns of the Old West (no date but, around 1958). All except The Complete Book of Modern Handgunning & The Complete Book of Shooting were paperback and are very hard to find, they just have not survived. It took me five years to get copies of all of them and then I had them hardbound. Jeff Cooper on Handguns 1979 was his last book on handgunning. He did serve as editorial adviser to Greg Morrison's The Modern Technique of the Pistol 1991. Col. Cooper's books on defensive pistolcraft are the standard by which all others are judged, his nickname is the "Guru."

Coordination Games : Complementarities and Macroeconomics
Published in Paperback by Cambridge University Press (March, 1999)
Average review score:

Essential Reading on Macroeconomic and Financial InstabilityThis is an essential book for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of macroeconomic and financial instability: recessions, depressions, financial panics, currency crises, bank runs, the Russian and Asian crises, and similar events. It also presents fundamental analysis critical to the understanding of monetary and fiscal policy coordination; for example in the European Union, and in dealing with the Asian macroeconomic and financial crisis. In addition, it is essential reading for students and enthusiasts of game theory. The book is very well organized, has an unerring eye in its coverage of topics, and is almost astonishingly well written. While parts of the book are technically demanding for the lay reader, the rest can be read with profit by the non-specialist and non-student. Indeed, the technical parts can still profitably be skimmed, and the gist of the ideas are clear to the patient non-specialist. Hence, exactly as advertised, the book is essential for graduate courses, but also useful as a reference for the specialist, and is required reading for the informed public. Unlike what is suggested in the advertising, however, I and my colleagues also feel the book can be taught and assigned to advanced undergraduate students, and to the more motivated of the intermediate students as well. I will do so. In short, if you haven't read this book you are simply out of date. Excellent brief summaries of this material can be found in David Romer's graduate text Advanced Macroeconomics, McGraw Hill, pp. 294-299, in Jansen, DeLorme and Ekelund's undergraduate text Intermediate Macroeconomics, West Publishing, pp. 412-419, and in John Taylor's introductory undergraduate text Principles of Macroeconomics, Houghton Mifflin, in the "New Keynesian School" subsection. Background readings appear in N. Mankiw and D. Romer (eds.) New Keynesian Economics, vol. 2, Coordination Failures and Real Rigidities, M.I.T. Press Readings in Econommics (Benjamin Friedman and Lawrence Summers, eds.). But the very best place to learn this essential material is in this elegant volume by Russell Cooper.
